For some reason it always gets associated with Ford GTs.

And rightly so.

10/08/2014 at 15:58

Kinja'd!!!1

I agree with you there. If they were to make a new one, it would have to be a DCT and much different in every way. Because they want it to sell. That'll just ruin the GT name.

Kinja'd!!! CAcoalminer > Brian Silvestro
10/08/2014 at 16:09

Kinja'd!!!0

I completely agree. Essentially, I would love for Ford to make another super car and would be fine with it being referred to as a successor to the GT, just don't call it the GT.

Kinja'd!!! Brian Silvestro > CAcoalminer
10/08/2014 at 16:13

Kinja'd!!!0

THAT is what needs to happen. A NEW supercar to represent the pinnacle of the Ford brand. The cutting edge of technology.

I'm listening to the Smoking Tire podcast, they're talking about the Ford GT again, and how they're going to be million dollar cars within 20 years. Keep at least one!

Kinja'd!!! CAcoalminer > Brian Silvestro
10/08/2014 at 16:24

Kinja'd!!!0

Exactly.

Interesting. Personally, I think they're being a bit rich on their estimates. I could see the Heritage Editions breaking $1 million because they only produced 343 of them but I can't see the rest doing the same. You have to remember that there were 4,038 produced.

I most likely will but I never say never.

Kinja'd!!! Brian Silvestro > CAcoalminer
10/08/2014 at 16:41

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah, you're probably right. It's seems as if more GTs get driven than any other exotic also. Hopefully they won't all end up in the hands of collectors that will drain all the fluids and keep it in a garage for the rest of it's life.

Kinja'd!!!0

Indeed. I know of at least one individual who has over 100,000 miles on his and there are many other like myself who have over 40,000.

Honestly, I don't know why more people don't because they're so easy and cheap to maintain. Unfortunately, I do know one person who has 10 and only drives one of them.

Interestingly, when storing a car, you should never drain the fluids but do change them every few years. Also, you shouldn't start your engine unless you intend to let it reach full operating temperature. Instead, it is much better to turn the engine over a few revolutions every few months to distribute the oil. Luckily, I never intend to utilize this information.

WUT

Do you guys have medals...or awards or something? If not, that should be arranged.

That guy with 10 just sounds like a smart investor. But those poor cars. They're begging to be used.

That's good to know, hopefully I'll never have to use it either.

Kinja'd!!! CAcoalminer > Brian Silvestro
10/08/2014 at 18:20

Kinja'd!!!0

Haha. No, we don't have medals. Also, I'm actually not alone in owning multiple GTs. In fact, I know at least 10 others who have at least 2.

I know but he does take very good care of them along with his other toys.

Having two is at least reasonable. This way you can build up a dream GT like you've done, and still have a stock one.

Terrific list.

My list is still fairly similar to the one I made a few weeks ago . Hopefully, I'll be able to own or, at least, drive each at some point.

I'm quite glad to see that you like the Ferrari 275. Absolutely delightful vehicles.

Kinja'd!!!0

Ah yes, we seem to have the same conversations over and over again. We really are obsessed with cars, aren't we?

Buy an F1 now, before the prices go up! A Zonda will be hard to get a hold of, because they were never legal in America. Those are just the best.

For some reason, over the last few weeks, I've fallen in love with the 275. It's lines are just perfect to me.

Kinja'd!!! CAcoalminer > Brian Silvestro
10/08/2014 at 19:09

Kinja'd!!!0

Indeed.

I've considered "regular" F1s over the years but am obsessed with the GTRs. Something about the possibility of driving a former race car on the street legally gets me giddy. Did Rusto ever tell you how I missed out on Ralph Lauren's LM?

It's a very nicely proportioned vehicle and absolutely stunning in person. If you're ever in the market, definitely spend the extra money and get a GTB/4 because it's miles better than the GTB, especially in the transmission department.

10/08/2014 at 19:12

Kinja'd!!!0

Please don't tell me that story, because it will make me cry.

I barely ever see them for sale on the internet. I need to start going to auctions, just to entertain myself, and watch very wealthy people throw around absurd amounts of money like it's nothing.

10/08/2014 at 19:23

Kinja'd!!!0

Alright, my friend.

Yes, they usually are sold in private but also come up for auction. Really, it's just knowing where to look and who to know. However, the internet has definitely made car searching much easier. I remember I had to go through specific brokers to get my 2 back in the day.

Haha. You should definitely go to the Monterey Auctions.

They aren't. This is one with a terrific amount of prominence.

Most are in the $3.5-5 million range like this one from the same auction:

Personally, I think whoever bought this got a great deal:
